About Semper Vita

The vision and mission

Picture a network of connected and trained individuals, churches and non-profit organizations in your local community intentionally pulling together to benefit those in need. What if our local churches and non-profits worked side-by-side to make a difference in our families and communities?

What if we could easily tap into this collaborative effort to volunteer our own time and services? Wouldn’t that be a fantastic place? That’s our dream.

Semper Vita-Experiencing life through service in community

We believe that at the center of that dream is the person of Jesus who called us to exactly that kind of community—loving each other, serving each other and making a difference for good and for God in the world.

Our vision is to see everyone experience Jesus through service in community. Jesus brings love, life and hope. We want everyone to experience that.

At Semper Vita, we believe that the best way to experience this life is through genuine relationships in acts of service. We also think the way to experience it is as a community. This means people working together—as a community—for their neighbors and friends—in the community—together with others who believe in Jesus—in the faith community.

It’s about people. It’s about relationships. It’s about community. It’s about service. It’s about partnering together. It’s about Jesus.

The Semper Vita leadership team

Henriet Schapelhouman

Henriet is the president and founder of Semper Vita. She is an ordained minister in the Free Methodist Church and most recently worked at Timberlake Christian Fellowship in Redmond, WA, as pastor to the adults. A first generation American, she was born in the Netherlands. Henriet started Semper Vita as a result of a compelling vision about a collaborative organization she received when attending a class on organizational dynamics at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Tamara Dull
Tamara is the vice president of marketing at Baseline Consulting - a management and technology consulting firm specializing in all things "data" based in Sherman Oaks, CA. She is also pursuing a masters at Fuller Theological Seminary, and in her spare time, she dabbles in web technologies, drinks grande soy mochas, and goes to baseball games. Tamara has been a part of Semper Vita since its inception and is loving the opportunity to "give back" in a way that she is uniquely wired to do.

Del Goehner, CPA
Del grew up in Dryden, WA, population 300, of which 1/3 of the residents were his own relatives. He owned his own firm and practiced as a CPA in Pasadena, CA, for 42 years, but moved back to his native state in 2005 to follow his wife’s career path. Throughout his career, Del has served many not-for-profits, both professionally as a CPA and as an active Board member. He believes that through the connectivity mission of Semper Vita, a large, impersonal world can become personable again by using the internet to recreate the “small town”, “relational” connection feel he was once blessed to have experienced.
